I have always been intrigued by the sea, and the creatures that call it home. The vibrant colors and mixtures of green, teal, and brown that make up the shell of sea turtles were so captivating to me that I had to render it in a painting.

I took hundreds of photographs of the sailboats in Florida during my family vacations. This painting is an interpretation of my favorite shot. The way the wind was catching the sail and the position of the man adjusting the ropes with his baggy sweatshirt were the little details that drew me in.

Cuddy is my playful feline nephew. The color variations within his fur, as well as his piercing stare made him a great subject to paint. Fun fact about this painting: I did it in a matter of two days. I started it the night before the birthday that my sister and I share, and to finish it I woke up at 4 in the morning so that I would have a gift to give her.

For my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary I painted them on their wedding day. The excitement in their eyes as they drove away from the church in their decorated "just married" car was what I wanted to depict. I only used black paint to keep the vintage and washed out feeling of the original photograph.
